Restaurant Horseshoe Casino (2nd Floor)
Another of the gulch 24 hour restaurants is non other than the café located on the 2nd floor of the Horseshoe Casino across from the Del Rey. Until recently, as with the change over to a “Gentlemen’s club’ after 9:30PM, this was a great place to go late night to enjoy a wide variety of menu items.
Let me review prior to the change over and go from there. Adjacent to the poker room and the sports book upstairs of the horseshoe is a bar area and restaurant. Wide variety of sandwiches and at one time was the “Best Steak in Town†Despite the lack of ambiance. Recently the trend has been downhill at least from the steak perspective as for $25.00 US for their top of the line Rib Eye; you can do better elsewhere, especially considering you are basically eating in the poker room with blackjack tables, and TV’s showing sporting events all around you. The baked potato was micro waved and the vegetables canned, with the steak going steadily down hill the last few months.
Now if you want a burger, sandwich, some eggs or a diner type menu, the place is pretty decent. You can watch some sports, grab a bite, make a wager, and even play some blackjack while you wait for your meal. Prices are moderate and the quality of your standard fare is pretty good. Used to be a nice late night spot after the KL etc, but with the change to a dance club “Gentlemen’s dance club†I have no idea how it will affect their 24 hour clientele and menu.
For a quick bite, give it a shot, but not for the serious gourmet. All credit cards accepted.
