You never know, 'Golfer, but I would not count on hearing from the guy in this thread - he had a sense of humor, but I don't see him being a regular contributor - like many of the brand new who just "use" the board for a few questions - sure, some become regular contributors, but most do not.

I know that's the nature of message boards, and accept that for what it is, but it would be nice (god, I don't whine for the "Good Old Days" <so called >) but I do miss the simple common courtesy that we as a society were known for in this country until a relatively short time ago - a simple "Thanks" or "took your advice and had a great time" - or even "Met a girl at the HDR, we traveled around for a week and had a great time" Its not the message; its the fact that many took the time to respond.

I hate to be right, but sure enough, we never heard from the OP, above - his last time on the board was December 6 - so over a month ago - but this will be a thread I'll bump in the future b/c the OP was so phucking clueless, and some of my posts were so right on - and in this case, re hearing from him in the future, so correct (at least so far).

You need to head a little further east.....big difference from my experience of costa and Thailand

In Thailand I spent two days with one lady..one day doing a bike tour another doing a boat cruise....very normal there to decide you want an extended stay with someone...very much a gfe

Costa is more pay by the hour... Even overnight seems more unusual and expensive....now my last trip two of us spent a night a full day and most of a night with two ticas....which did not end we'll (and is documented in a old post)

I think others at right just a cultural thing...but at wrong in that it cant be done...just wrong country....

You may be correct in your conclusions, but if you want to be taken seriously by those of us in the know, don't use "tica" as a generic term for whore - it just means female costa rican - its a little like offering to give english language lessons, and pronouncing the word "ask" like "ax"

It can be done but as others have said it's dicey at best.

I have done it once and it worked out great (during the trip). I did 3 days 2 nights in Manuel Antonio

Girl was my favorita who I had developed a relationship (bad word) how about raport with. I had been with her numerous times over several trips (we got along and had some chemisrty).

Went with a CRT bro whos favorita was friends with my favorita.

It ended up going south AFTER we got back. She hit me up with a RFM...I called her out on it....she said she never wanted to go to Manuel Antonio and just went cause I wanted to (on a side note, she has all her pictures of that trip on her Facebook page including her profile pic but she told me she had a bad time...yeah...ok?)...said I didn't give her enough money, spend enough on her, yadda yadda yadda.

Bottom line, had to let the bitch go. Still see her every trip down, I am polite and smile but don't talk to her. I still hug, kiss and talk to her older sister though (hit that once also)

I got lucky that the drama started after the trip.

That shit rarely works out.

BP - that was why it worked out for you; its not rocket science; you knew her, had a relationship- the guy in this somewhat dated thread - although the question comes up fairly often - along with all the others i can recall asking the same question either wanted to just pick up some random girl, or wanted recommendations - either scenario is almost certain to end in disappointment

ahhh...well yes there in lay the problem, I never did really know what exactly the situation was...just noticed my trip report from last year has vanished (I haven't been on this board much for quite some time)....so the story is no longer there

short version, I met up with an young American that had good spanish (I have virtually none), we connect on the main drag of Jaco, proceed to dining, drinking..and night of fun (more for him than me he got the good looking one), some morning fun (finally a little bit of the good looking one) a day trip down to Man Ant, more food, booze (drugs)....then a complete utter clusterf*ck back in my room as the situation took a really bad turn when he tries to get rid of them....money comes up....I'm stuck in the middle....goes down hill quickly....

Pros? Amateurs? just having some fun?....in hindsight I'm thinking more chica then admitted...but never know

As mentioned in my trip report (that again is gone??) learned my lesson to be very careful about connecting with a wingman who knows the local language when you don't---really you have no idea what he is discussing with the ladies....and relearned a lesson I already thought I knew (but forgot as I go swept up in the fun) ALWAYS get the terms and conditions up front....

BTW been to CR 3 times...so do know a thing or two...

Look, no matter how many times you go, you always learn (or at least you should) - I have over 40 trips, and while i know more that the average guy, I know I'm still learning

I have in fact done that. On a trip down here in 2003 I got two girls from G&G and a Toyota SUV. Actually, I rented one girl and her sister came along for free, without Joanne knowing. We had a great time staying in Tico hotels and drinking and eating in Tico bars and sodas. I think I paid a grand for the girl and bought them cheap shit in the tourist traps. We had a great time, they behaved like personal body servants. We even slept on the beach one night. I tried to find them my next time down, one had been murdered on the beach and the other had returned to Nicaragua. Don't expect this type of service from a bar girl or one with K*ds.

I've done it but ONLY and let me repeat, everyone pay attention here...OOOOOONLY with a couple girls I really got to know and trust when I lived here, we went to Arenal and hot springs and had a blast.

Taking a strange girl you just met and don't know is like throwing a hand grenade, if you're a trained military guy, lots of fun, if not, your hand gets blown off and you get killed...or wish you did if you didn't...

Here's what can happen :

She drugs you, takes your wallet, passport, jewelry and disappears forever.

She alerts her thug gang member friends, tells them where you are, what hotel, your car and license #. They rob you and beat your ass and she disappears or claims it was a surprise to her as well. More than likely disappears, and don't think you'll see her in HDR the next day for an explanation.

She's a whiney pain in the ass, when not in bed, she wants this, that, more money, makes a phone call, "babiii sick" wants money and a paid trip home to take care of the babiii....

I'm an avid hiker. The favorite I took to Arenal was lovely and fun and trustworthy, we really knew each other. No worries there. I bought her an expensive pair of hiking boots, even in my 50's I could easily hike 5 plus miles or more, after 1 mile she stated "I didn't agree to this..." we rested, luckily found a hot springs lagoon and took off our clothes and relaxed and enjoyed that, but walking back she bitched the whole time, most of these girls, 40 years our junior, are out of shape and they don't want to walk or hike or do athletic things.

She'll be texting and talking on her phone the majority of time, she's not really interested in you, I hate to tell you. She'll find you agonizingly boring.

I had a lovely favorite and we would often spend many hours together, sometimes the whole day. She was incredibly beautiful and sexy and really delivered. I was excited after knowing her a month or so to spend our first night together. She kicks, pulls the blanket off and punches me when I'm snoring with a disgruntled look on her face.

The next morning she takes a big crap first thing. For those of you who have experienced more here than just hotel rooms, mp rooms, casino joints and bars, Costa Rica architecture can be odd. Even though I had a very nice pricey apartment, and the bedroom was large, the bathroom for that bedroom was situated 2 feet from the bed. I could hear her turds ker-plunking away. that ruined any desire for morning wood, I paid her, made her breakfast, continued to see her often and never asked her to spend the night again, that was just fine with both of us....

all of those things can happen
and i totally relate to the bathroom thing and its worse in MDE in my limited experience
i'm one of those guys that never farts or shits in front of woman and typically they reciprocate
not that hard to make those things happen without them around
and if i can't trust a girl w the key to my room then i'm a fool
she can go back whenever it suits her and i give her time to herself when she showers etc.
but yeah all that bad shit can happen
