Latest world news on Covid-19 not good... It's going to get everywhere...just a matter of time. There's no stopping it. And comparisons to the flu are scary. Flu only affects 20 per cent or less of the population each year. It has a 1/10th of one percent mortality. That's 50 to 100 thousand people worldwide per year. Some years a bit worse...up to half a million with a flu a few years back. This virus is a bit less transmissible. But that's not all good...means it takes longer to make the rounds. And a much larger percentage of people will get it because we (humanity) appear to have no built up immunity to it...unlike the flu. So up to 80% of people will eventually get it. The death toll will be many many millions. Estimates range from as low as 1% with good health care (ie. oxygen, etc) to over 3%. China got hit hard because they didn't even have oxygen to go around initially....they didn't know or acknowledge what they were dealing with at the start. Anyway...best case is around 1%.

please tell us more Dr. Zeuss
pray tell what in your background gives you the ability to make such a statement?
or are you just crystal free ballin?

Don’t be eye rolling. Zeos is right.

While there has been much interesting/constructive comment thus far in this thread, it seems that we're probably still in the early stage of this pandemic; so, regardless of how much we calculate/speculate, only time will show us how wicked this bitch will turn out and the true cost [lives, $$$, quality of life, etc.] to our society.

very impressive and with all the charts it would seem easy to include the average age of those who are dying right?
i've looked everywhere and it seems like thats what is being avoided
the 19 they are talking about in Washington were living in the same old folks home and were already quite weak
they did touch on it
"Note that the age distribution in each country will also have an impact: Since mortality is much higher for older people, countries with an aging population like Japan will be harder hit on average than younger countries like Nigeria. There are also weather factors, especially humidity and temperature, but it’s still unclear how this will impact transmission and fatality rates."
would seem easy enough to include that data as well as typical cycle of recovery which no one seems to be talking about

Go ahead and abandon subtext and make your Darwinian "culling of the herd" point, the argument/observation has already been made.

pretty unfair thing to say i was suggesting that because i want to know the numbers
i have a mother thats close to a century old and i'm not even seeing her because i don't want her to get this
it might actually help us to focus more on the most vulnerable if we know for a fact who they are
but hey nice cheap shot thx

Aww Boynton, Don't be going off on Rupert's boy like that. LAd's just restricted in where he get's his information. He means well, but he's just confused since Rupert's group just makes shit up. It's all a Hoax, at least that's what BLOTUS told them to say. :D :D
