Does anyone have any news on Hotel Del Rey? They seem to be taking reservations in August on expedia, but that may not mean anything.
The last I heard was the Chinese buy out and renovation rumor.

Yes! I called AA tonight concerned that if I attempted to renew my passport now I may not have it in time for my Sept. 6th trip due to high backlog and slowed processing with U.S. DOS. They could not find any restrictions nor 14 day quarantine info. in CR in their database. I did ask them to check Colombia also and NO inbound travel and 14 day quarantine in general (I guess for Colombians returning).

What international travel may look like
https://qcostarica.com/these-would-be-t ... l-flights/

The goal is for passengers to not have physical contact with each other. Among the recommendations is the elimination of carryon, passengers would only be allowed a backpack or bag that fits under the seat in front of the passenger.
The reason for this is due to the fact that both when boarding or getting off the aircraft, the placement and removal of carry-on bags causes numerous reasons for contact between people.

These measures include:

Physical distancing to the extent feasible and implementation of “adequate risk-based measures where distancing is not feasible, for example in aircraft cabins”;
Wearing of face coverings and masks by passengers and aviation workers;
Routine sanitation and disinfection of all areas with potential for human contact and transmission;
Health screening, which could include pre- and post-flight self-declarations, as well as temperature screening and visual observation, “conducted by health professionals”;
Contact tracing for passengers and aviation employees: updated contact information should be requested as part of the health self-declaration, and interaction between passengers and governments should be made directly though government portals;
Passenger health declaration forms, including self-declarations in line with the recommendations of relevant health authorities. Electronic tools should be encouraged to avoid paper;
Testing: if and when real-time, rapid and reliable testing becomes available.

Eighty six new cases today, mostly in the north of the country. Forty were foreigners. There are now more active cases than recovered. Two more deaths, one a 26 year old woman.

I might cancel my trip though or it be cancelled on me....., just have to take a wait and see approach.

Do know that TJ has action right now and LRD too! TJ seems pretty safe in that bars with close contact closed down but many SGs in the alley in perfect COVID-19 destroying sunlight. Also reading Cascadas bar lobby has some offerings.

General rule of COVID-19 avoidance is limiting personal contact. Yes taking some risk with solo chica encounters but street and ped traffic there only 5% + can retreat back to U.S. each night. Tempting. Maybe I fly San Diego 4th weekend and probe it (i.e. my probe in a TG SG!!!). :) :) :)

Panama citizens took to the streets yesterday to protest the lockdowns they put back in place.
Mostly in cars, but still a form of protest considering their lockdown rules.

In an interview with the daily La Nación, Juan Belliard, director of airport operator Aeris, detailed the measures that Juan Santamaría International Airport near San José has planned in conjunction with the Civil Aviation Administration (DGAC).

Juan Santamaría International Airport lists the following tentative schedule for airlines to resume service to SJO:

Air Canada at an unspecified date in July.
American Airlines on July 7 to Miami and Dallas.
Delta Air Lines on July 2 to Atlanta.
JetBlue Airways on July 1 to Orlando and Fort Lauderdale.
Southwest Airlines in 2021.
Spirit Airlines on July 5 to Fort Lauderdale and Orlando. Rescue flights to Fort Lauderdale on June 24 and 29.
United Airlines is continuing its Houston/SJO route through at least the end of June.
