Gentlemen,

Perhaps this may sound a bit silly or maybe I am asking too much.

As many of you guys know, at least the expats living here, the Caribbean side of the country is suffering a lot with all the flooding and the terrible weather conditions they are having.

Families are homeless and K*ds are suffering a lot.

Any of you interested in donating a few dollars to raise something and deliver it to the Red Cross to help this people out?

We could do some great things for this people and give something back to this beautiful country we all feel and are part of it.

Maybe some of the Admins can help to raise the funds other members are willing to donate.

what do you guys think?

Mente

I think that we can probably pass the hat at the Super Bowl party and come up with a pretty good donation.

I will definitely contribute as long as I know the money is going to the right people.

Don Gordo that would be a good idea. and defenetly we can deliever the money to the Red Cross here in town or to the emergency comission.

Whatever you guys decide will be done with all honesty. That's why I mentioned maybe the admins can help and once the money is collected we can either go directly or just make a bank wire.

Mente.

Does anybody know a real source (no ripoffs) to give to that is targeted to the CR problem? I'd be willing to do a paypal or whatever to a fund through you guys. I've met Admin1 and Admin2, and they don't seem much like the numerous folks in SJ I run from.

Think passing the hat at the super bowl party is a great idea and I will be very willing to contribute. The problem is that about 40 VIPs will be at the party and our total membership is almost 1900. How do we set up a mechanism that allows the other 1860 members who may want to help a way to contribute. Any ideas?
For those concerned of a possible misuse of the monies collected I think we need to designate a responsible member to take the funds to the Costa Rica Red Cross, any monies that get to them will be used wisely.

Why don't we give the money to those med students wearing the white coats who take your blood pressure right outside the DR?

Those guys are amazing! I once took 3 Viagras, smoked 2 cigars and had about 15 beers and my blood pressure was perfect!!!!

I and the novia...along with some local friends...put together all our clothes we dont use anymore and sent it over there. Personally I don't think giving money to someone here is the best option. I think we should pool funds you guys want to give and buy goods that are delivered directly where it is needed. Too many hands in the middle otherwise. $$$ disappears too easily. PM me with any ideas Mente...

Count me in for anything that gets the money to the needy. I have just one concern.I think it may not be a good idea to do it "in the name of CRT" and call attention to our group. Perhaps it could just say "an annonymous group of Gringos.
