Keeping in touch back home is important to me and, I'm sure many of us. the trick is to keep my where abouts secret, and make those I'm communicating with think I'm stateside working diligently for that minimum wage Seems that WEP could be a good alternative to a sat phone once the bugs are worked out. Anxious to see how the second generation product will perform.

Just wanted to update this thread for the benefit of all who posted with advice and information on the topic of staying in touch back home while enjoying CR. I was able to rent a sat phone from Verizon for 99 dolllars a week (7 day period of time). they will ship to my door within 48 to 72 hours, or for an extra fee, within 24 hours. Yes I can forward my cell phone number to the sat phone. Incoming calls are free of charge, outgoing calls are 2.99 per minute. Figured I'd use a ICE card and call from my room if an incomming call was missed. deposit of 500 dollars to my ccard, refundable once the phone is returned and charges have been settled. Peace of mind is priceless

For my needs, my T-Mobile RzorV3 is providing me with the features I need.

I get 1,500 anytime minutes for $39.95. Calls to CR or Germany for 1.09 per minute; PR is free; calls made to overseas numbers while overseas are 1.99; and calls to the US while overseas are free.

Mind you... although Catherine Zeta Jones is one gorgeous, beautiful, sexy woman and Michael Douglas is one lucky ph*ck! I do not intend to be a spokeperson or advocate for T-Mobile...

It just works for me. But for each person YMMV...
