And on that note, would anyone like to share a ride with me to Hallandale. We can place a 50 cent Superfecta bet at Gulfstream and complain profusely that we didn't win, then mosey over to the Sage Deli for the oilee boid and steal as many of the Sweet and Lows as we can! OY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I used to see Neil at Calder many times back in the day and I once said to him, "Neil, I'm dying over here!" in which he retorted back to me "We are all dying over here"! Neil is probably rolling over in his grave now that Calder is being razed!

I remember the days when WIOD 610am in Miami ran the Neil Rogers and Phil Hendrie Shows back to back in afternoon. That was some entertaining radio, especially when compared to what is on now.

Phil Hendrie had the funniest show ever on the radio. Loved his characters...Margaret Gray, Steve Bosell, Chris Norton, Jeff Dowder, Ted Bell, Dean Wheeler, Vernon Dozier, Bobbie Dooley, et. al.

One funny 'episode' involved Steve Bosell, who was always filing frivolous lawsuits, suing his wife for assault because one night she stuck a finger in his ass

The Sage - the BEST
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I think they are still going to have racing at Calder - but I could be wrong - thought it just effected the casino portion

Scuba 1, I was told that the entire Calder Operations including racing was finito, but if someone can confirm this it would be appreciated.

The Sage is great, let's not forget Mo's down Biscayne a bit.

Scuba1:

I just confirmed from a good source that the Calder track will end operations. The Casino will remain in business.

Got ya - its been hard to compete with Gulfstream - but Hialeah is giving it a shot - just an article about how they are sinking $$$ into the place - its beautiful - they have quarter horse racing now.

(I remember all the shows Neil Rogers did with the track ownership and management annually, and always thought they acted like "Big stupid idiotic jerks" - if they formed an alliance on common grounds, they likely could have gotten a minors bill passed long before they did as well as some other things - they never agreed on the racing dates either; felt Gulfstream had the choice winter dates - who know, if you asked the Brunetti's and the Noe's they would likely tell you something else - God - bringing me back to 1980's talk radio.  :)

Where exactly is MO's - I'm always looking for a good deli?

Scuba1:

Here is the location for Mo's. They used to be the best deli around but the last time I was there a few months ago the food was not good at all. I may have caught them on an off night:

Mo's Bagels Inc
2772 NE 187th St, Miami, FL 33180
(305) 936-8555

The horse racing industry nationally is hurting. Can't seem to get full fields these days and mostly maiden filled cards these days. Expect more tracks to close.
