BMWGUY,
Thanks for your advice but....
I read your pm, then checked out Delta. The thing about the $463 fares is they all were like 12 hours travel time with 4-7 hour layovers in ATL.
I am willing to pay the $100 to even $200 premium to fly non-stop, if that's what it takes. I'm only going for six days, and I'll be damned if I'm going to spend two of them traveling.
Never had this problem when Continental was still around, and I feel like it will go away when Soutwest starts flying down there. UA just has no real competition from Houston.
100% get that. I do the same thing myself sometimes. It's all in what it's worth to you. Some folks need that bargain-basement fare or they can't afford the trip. Others have more flexibility.
That Delta fare has popped up with some shorter connects recently; but obviously it's never going to be a nonstop.
My job is to give options. Even though I don't work for CRT, I do it so much every day that I can never seem to get that out of my head.
There is no real low-fare competition out of Houston for the non-oceanic Int'l routes, although Southwest keeps threatening. It's mostly politics about the IAH/HOU thing.
I agree with what someone else said earlier: If you're happy with the ticket you got, don't worry about it and enjoy the trip.
