If you are right Orange…how asinine and cruel!

Even if he gets out soon, just being held in there, like and with common criminals in such an uncertain situation is cruel and unusual punishment that does not fit the possibly alleged crime…in reality, probably, being a narcissist jerk, which most people who know him claim he is.

Over the last 11 years I have only had a few beers with Cuba Dave and like most smart visitors I like to keep a low profile (especially in the last 5 years), but always was a good conversation and I thought was just an OK guy. Trust him, no in fact I don't trust anyone down there as far as I can spit. Didn't know him as others on this board did and I can only speak for myself.

What really bothers me is the Costa Rican Government and plenty of other places around the world are total hypocrites and know exactly what's going on in their own countries/cities and do nothing about it. Cuba Dave was singled out by someone on the inside who takes care of the right officials to get him and his business out of the way. It's the old rat coke dealer who tips off the cops about another dealer to take out any competition and the govt. (AKA police, customs etc..) gets to show their faces in the papers doing a fine job.

Is anyone naïve enough to think, Del Rey and every MP, hotel that caters to us and clubs aren't paying the govt. in some way shape or form to keep their sex trade businesses from being shut down on some bullsh*t health code violation, or building code violation or some minor bullsh*t violation if they refused to pay up?

Look around USA cities or open a phone book in a major city and look under entertainment. In my city there are 80 pages of *******, MP's all over the city, guys handing out ******* and Escort services cards all over the strip, Craigslist ads in the 100's and 1,000 of ways to P4P. Strip clubs everywhere where the right amount gets you anything you want right in the club. Contrary to what most believe, in the city of Las Vegas (Clark County) prostitution is illegal.

Does my city or any other city do anything about it ....... HELL NO IT'S REVENUE AND CASH IN POLITICAL POCKETS!!! Do they make an example of someone every now and then? Sure they do when that person is not paying the people that pull the purse strings.

Do I think Cuba Daves' arrest is BULLSH*T? Sure I do and the person(s) who set him up know exactly who they are.

I am also sure now there will never be another website or person ever that opens a blogsite, website or writes a book or magazine promoting sex tourism because Cuba Dave, a real nobody on the world scale, was arrested (Sarcasm and Bullsh*t). What a joke!!!

Oh, they know what goes on and are fine with it. But when a jackass broadcasts it to the world, it becomes embarrassing and that they don't want. They don't want tree huggers and volcano enthusiasts to be put off by the fact that CR seems to be one big brothel.

And what would happen if some jackass from Costa Rica came to Vegas and started making blogs and selling maps about where the best hooker places are? The exact same thing, but much faster than it took the CR government.

Yep, and he see the person who set him up in the mirror each time he looks at it.

Yes, this whole thing may blow over in some time, but for the time being, nobody is stupid enough to test them again.

im sure there will be quite a large crowd of caring, faithful, men to honor such a ground breaking hero
to be followed by parties at múltiple locals in SJ that are extremely grateful to all he has done for them

Hopefully, they let him go today.....and hopefully he hightails it out of CR right away. What would you do? Hang around or get out fast? For me, no victory laps, no partying, just get out in case they change their mind...because you never know, anything could happen. And I am guessing his blogging days are over.

Maybe it's being broadcast on CR-SPAN?

Live feed into certain establishments would be a nice touch.

I'm guessing high tail it out ASAP.

Then he'll probably start working on the book & movie script. Half joking, but also half serious.

Heard some chatter only....two more months of investigative detention after the judge hearing arguments from both sides.

Wow, that just sucks. If they couldn't come up with a charge by now, they should ave just let him go and chance the flight risk. He must feel hopeless; today was his chance, what a mind f*ck. 2 months is bad enough, but 4 months :?: I don't know.....

Have we all turned into armchair judge and jury sheesh.

And another 5 pages of poor Dave commences.?? :(

Quite clear the CR government which none of us understand clearly and never will are sending a clear message and making an example.

Attorney friend Who lives there I spoke with said the Preventive detention will go as time served when he is eventually sentenced or pleads. "His words". "They will find something in their complicated new law to convict him of, his only hope will be that he is deported immediately. Never to return. He could also face a full sentence of whatever they find him guilty of (again complicated law, no charges officially anyone is aware of).

Whichever side your on the above is about the only thing you can count on in Costa Rica..... that and Tica Time :)

Clear as mud. It's all the news we have now that Halloween is over and the currency/macroeconomic thread is running out of steam (I hope).

I'm guessing more would be writing CD off, and faster, if the "investigation" pertained to physically harming someone... or other blatantly intolerable acts.

What's left to investigate, especially if reports are true that OIJ was looking at this for a year? He's their personal plaything now.

I for one am not hosting a pity party. 99% of the things that have made me miserable trace back to choices I made.

I once had a picure of a sign that In my mind applies:

Everything happens for a reason. Sometimes the reason is you're stupid and make bad decisions.

Just a thought: do you think that, once released, they'll punish him for overstaying his 90 day entry time??
