I plan on visiting Costa Rica next month and will be traveling without my family in many years. The trip is primarily to complete the dental work. For the last few trips, we have been renting apartments in Jaco with great Internet access and free landline to the United States.

since I'll be alone, I plan on staying in the gulch and was wondering which places offer the best Wi-Fi. I will be there for a week and need to VPN and use VoIP to be able to work remotely.

Any advice or comparisons of different hotels will be greatly appreciated :)

This is an answer for the wifi expert BD, but it seems all the local places, HDR, SL, La A, etc., are all within a mile or so of each other and should be about the same, I always stay at HDR and never had a problem, friends of mine stay at SL and Dunn, never a prob, the problem isn't the hotels, CR's internet crashes from time to time...

And just an FYI. At Scores we also have for hotel guests aUS IP address. So your pandora radio, I heart radio. HBOgo and so on, ALL work here. They won't with a CR IP address.

I can attest that Scores and Zona 2 have great wifi. I was able to watch videos and play high tech games without issue.

Sleep Inn and Morazan have spotty internet at best.

I don't have enough experience with any of the others.

Does anyone have an opinion on Jaco hotels with best wifi?

Thank you very much All.

I guess I'll be staying at Scores or the SL; whichever happens to have the best deal and availability.

I remember staying at the Morazon and the water was off for about 26 hours. A lot of customers mad and Rickey R laughing at them. They sent me to HOTEL EUROPA where I was able to shower and shave in the bathroom by the swimming pool. But I always had a great time when I stayed there because of the location.

Hank, I must of been there the same time. I believe it was in May about 7-8 years ago it rained for days most of the power was off in the gulcth. NYB, Key largo ,money bar and Horseshoe were closed and DR and Presidente were running on generators. I was staying on the 5th floor and they gave everyone candles to use. I said WTF this place is going to burn down and finally the power came back on. The Morazon isn't as bad as people say I just stayed a week there last week. Now that all the gingo bars have closed. I believe it is time to move up the hill but it is nice when you leave Key Largo and walk out the back door to your room in about 50 steps.

Does anyone have an opinion on Jaco beach hotels with the best wifi? I stayed at Cocal last trip and the wifi was not good to say the least.

The Dunn Inn internet seems to be pretty strong. I was connecting to Dunn Inn wi-fi from the 4th floor of the Mona Lisa Hotel (across the street and 500 feet away) because ML was non-existent most of the time.
