Okay so we can't get into the country. Anybody know of a way to get a Costa Rica citizen out? They are free to leave but I think both borders are closed and I don't know of anyone flying out...

Oh, if there’s a way, they will find it. They may feign ignorance so you finance it. Besides, if you get one out, you will be responsible for her care and maintenace.

Quite a few rooms are booked in July at SL. Somebody didn’t get the message or Nyr and the Inspector are throwing one helluva party.

Some folks are gonna be pissed when the airlines don’t refund their flights (they will just give you credit).

I think you're assuming something that's not applicable here.

So if anyone knows of a charter company that's taking groups or whatever please advise.

Oh, and no United States visa so no destinations/stops to the U.S.

United has been offering flights to and from SJO to Houston
https://ticotimes.net/2020/05/21/united ... h-mid-june

The United website has flights available on their website for July. The July prices were lower than what was in the Tico Times article.
Approval to get out of CR and into the US might take some additional research

Walmart is open, they could all hang out at Walmart... After they clear the 14 day quarantine. Good times, good times.

I'm thinking hang it up for 2020. Might as well wait until 2021. This C-virus is not going anywhere anytime soon. JUST now starting to surge in the US. Politicians are delaying the surge by requiring face masks to prevent healthcare facilities from overloading. I'm just ready to get this shit over with and get back to the "new norm." Whatever that is!?!?!?

Thanks so much! I was waiting to hear from somebody in country, who wasn’t begging for money, to tell it like it is.

Appreciate the insight.

Even if they do create a vaccine, it will still need to be mass produced. It will still need to be distributed and it will still need to be given to people. Travel for the next 6 months to a year is going to be a gamble even if your not crossing an international border. Heck even states are trying to make people from other states quarantine for 14 days. If your plans can be flexible, maybe you can catch a window when the virus is low and take a last minute type weekend trip, but anything with planning out more than a few weeks is probably not going to happen.

Monica's is still open. Even on Sundays. I was there yesterday. Limited number of putas because of the social distancing, but the same action behind closed doors.

From an article in todays Q Costa Rica

Currently (June 29) there are 37 patients hospitalized, the highest so far, of which 3 are in Intensive Care.

Now, as of June 26, 3 out of every 6 tests are positive.

The Caja has 477 beds exclusively for COVID-19, which could be increased to 2,713, but would take away space for non-COVID-19 patients.

https://qcostarica.com/two-more-weeks-w ... se-health/

So the country has shut itself down for months with just 37 in the hospital and three in intensive care. Who knows how many of these new cases will actually end up in the hospitals.

Sure, that is now. But the important issue is whether the cases keep increasing. And having 3 tests out of every 6 tests positive says that they are not testing nearly enough people. They must only be testing those they know have been exposed or potentially exposed to the virus.

When this thing gets rolling and doubles every few days it gets out of control. That's what they're trying to avoid. Even if it is partly under control but still increasing the question is...how do you reverse that before you get to the point where the system can't handle the cases. And that is what has happened in country after country, and is happening in many places, including in the US, more than ever. Worldwide this is now increasing at a faster rate than ever...it's not done yet.
