I may be going to San José from the Guanacaste coast for some medical checks. Where do we stay now? Any locals know what hotels are even open? I know the Sportman's doesn't open until 15 Oct and I'm probably going up before that. I'll even take a reco for a non-chica friendly place in the gulch or even down by Clinica Biblica, but I'd prefer a chica friendly place if anything is open. Taormina? HLH? Morazan? Dunn Inn? Any places open or are they all shut down? If the gulch places are shut down I'd probably prefer just a regular place around Clinica Biblica that's not a total dump. It's not really a monger trip anyway.

Thks Boynton. Also, I just got a whatsapp from a taxi guy who works the Taormina. He says they are opening Nov 1. Still a nice place to stay but will have to see what their rates are and if the new chica fee is still in effect. Add up the costs and one may as well stay at the Sportman's. Who knows, maybe they'll use the shutdown to "go straight" and not even allow chicas. I don't like the rooms at Little Havana because they're dark and don't have windows for daytime light. But, at their current offering of $50 (I think) it may be worth it.

I imagine that with HLH, Sportsmens, Castillo, and possibly Taormina open on November 1st there will soon be PLENTY of lodging options. It will be interesting to see what price competition ensues. HLH's $50 rate may seem a little high in that environment.

I have been in the rooms at Havana and the no windows deal is not acceptable to me. Also, i never knew they charged a chica fee. What are the latest chica prices there? Haven’t been in awhile. I do know SL has some rooms in the courtyard which are affordable. Checked them out once.

Taormina began a chica fee shortly before lockdown. Who knows if it will remain.

I used to stay at HLH in the past. They have 2 rooms with windows on the second floor. room Number 214 and 215 if I remember correctly. Call and ask them that you want a room with the window.

Thks for the tip on windowed rooms at HLH. I take back my statement from earlier regarding price:
"at their current offering of $50 (I think) it may be worth it."

The $50 offer was for bookings made in September for a stay during the rest of 2020. The normal rate per their website says $75, but some rooms $65 2 or more nights. Maybe one could still strike a deal at $50, though.

I always paid $50 to the old management. You should get the rate.

HLH already extended their $50 rate to CRT VIPs who book before 10/31 for stays until 13/31
viewtopic.php?f=24&t=52516

This is a decent rate, especially if you are looking for onsite talent. However between October 15 and November 1 a lot more rooms will become available. Market price us set by supply vs. demand. None of these options have announced promotions, but at least two of these are run by knowledgable businessmen that want our business.

Sportsmen Lodge - Open Oct 15, CRT Sponsor, owner who know hospitality, wide array of rooms, independent girls looking for company, sports, camaraderie, security.

Castillo - Open Oct 28, CRT Sponsor, business savvy owner, chica friendly, great restaurant, decent sports bar.

Taormina - rumored Nov 1 opening, uncertain chica friendliness (guest charge before pandemic), decent restaurant, sports bar, only if these options with onsite casino and poker room.

In other words, if you decide to C*m, you have the negotiating power. Girls, lodging, transportation. Take advantage of it while it lasts without being too cheap.

Perhaps the public park owners haven't complained.

The openings are driven by economics, not health. The public parks gave no owners or paying customers. Few, if any, employees (who are still getting paid) and unbelievably, Park Morazon draws very few big spending international tourists.
