Amistad is an old mansion with all rooms opening up as if in a standard hotel. Bar scene more intimate and cozy. Train rolls by frequently and rattles the whole place and is loud. Walk in showers in all rooms and some have jacuzzi bathtubs separately.
Castillo is an open air type hotel with a large common area at the entry and bar area. It is much more spacious. Many rooms open up to the outside but within the hotel itself (not like a motel). Bar scene is usually much quieter even with the bar being triple the size of Amistad. Walk in showers are in most if not all rooms. Cant recall seeing a bath tub in any of the ones i stayed in. The penthouses are very large with upstairs balconies, 3 of them are on the top floor. (be sure not to arrange the 'Up stairs Penthouse' if you are looking for the balcony type...this one is literally 'up the stairs' by the reception desk with no balcony like the aforementioned 3)
