Have to agree. Monger pricing, too many overpriced babes grabbing you with “Hey Baby.” They should sit in the corner until called.

Have stayed at SL many times and returning for the Superbowl. I have never had anything but a great time and great service. The bartenders are fun, the food is good and security is terrific. Yes the prices are higher than at a Soda but worth a couple extra bucks due to convenience if your staying there. I always recommend SL when asked for recommendations.

Having stayed at the SL numerous times, I find the complaints about the place amazing. Bill runs a first-class operation. The mongers that stay at the Lodge or drop by to visit are there for a reason. They are all fellow mongers. The women jn attendance earn their livelihood pleasing the mongers. Food is provided to feed the mongers and lucky ladies fed by said mongers. Television is not the reason to go to the SL. Great friendships and memories to be made.

I’m looking forward to my next SJ visit and staying at the SL. Pura Vida!

I have stayed at SL about 4 or 5 times a year since 2006. Great owner, manager, and staff. The food is really good and reasonably priced, in my opinion. If SL is to expensive for you, hit the calle. If the girls there command too high a price, stick to your low rent MPs. It is always the same MISER whining. Happy Holidays.

Just returned from a six night stay at the Sportsmens. I have to say the service was excellent.

On my first night, there was a problem with the hot water in my room. Since it was late and had already unpacked and everything, I really didn't want to change rooms that night. Manfred (the manager) gave me a key to the Presidential Suite across the hall so so that I could use that shower for the evening. The next day they gave me a suite in the Mansion Wing at a discounted rate. I was more than satisfied with the remedy.

Bar service was quick, the drinks had a good pour and the food quality was good. While not haute cuisine, the Sportsmens does have good bar food. My only complaint is that the portions are a bit large so I have a tendency to overeat. Prices are a bit high but I find that is true of most restaurants in San Jose that cater to gringos.

And by the way, I told the housekeeper that I needed extra towels on the first night I was there and I had four towels every day without asking.

It always helps to leave a propina for the housekeeper on your nightstand every morning.
