Had a 4th floor king room for 5 days last month (Sep). Had a great stay, now my new go to hotel in San Jose. Used to be Dunn Inn until the hotel changed its chica policy. Was surprised by the number and quality of chicas in the sports bar late at night. Pulled two while there and had good times with both. The room was very clean, staff friendly, all said 5 stars for the stay. Caution, avoid the snacks in the room, truly expensive and not worth the money. The breakfast buffet gets a thumbs up. Booked a room again for my stay in March next year.

The Taormina is a great place to stay, free valet parking, nice free breakfast, chica friendly, casino, bar, late night restaurant, what more could you ask for. I always ask for rooms to the back side of the hotel, they are quieter.

My room was in the front of the building. The noise was marginal at best.

Is this a good place to find quality Chicas? I don't feel comfortable roaming these streets in the dark and want to search close to my hotel room. If no Chicas in hotel bar area, how close is nearest hang out?

Numbers wise, no. May be a few there in the evenings but not a lot.

Take a taxi to Sportsmen or Del Rey at night (and back)

Or just stay at Sportsmen if this is your first trip

Jfoot is spot on. For first trip go to Sportsman's Lodge. Many people staying there who can give you good advice on the area and maybe even show you around. Taxi's are really cheap and will cost about 2 to 3 dollars to get around for most places. Don't be afraid of exploring during the day. Stayed at Taormina on my last stay and loved it. Don't carry a lot of cash and use common sense. Take cab at night or late at night from Del Rey to hotel, you'll be fine. Bonus for Taormina is you can avoid the banks to exchange money, the casino is glad to exchange it for you.

I don't think It was the Mona Lisa in 2006. I stayed there in 07 , 08, and
It was not the Mona Lisa.

I stayed there at the Clarion the fourth of July weekend in 2008. I thought it was reasonably nice hotel. I reserved a Junior Suite for $65 special from Nixon. When I checked out they charged me $89 a night. So I told them about the special and they called Nixon who didn't answer his phone. Finally I got them to honor this agreement and it took me 2 hours to check out. So I lost my chance for one last session and had to head straight to the airport. The batteries in the safe were dead and I had to wait until the next morning to replace it. When it was Mona Lisa the employees were stealing from the safes.

I hope that when they open they will come to their senses about the chica fee.
