Been there, Fun place, great group of people. The Cocal is NOT the only place in town these days.

Went 3 times on latest trip
nice place friendly staff. Only brought my card once discount applied other 2 times didn't ask prices are
reasonable. Another option....jaco has lots of them but between 7:00pm and 11:30 pm
You want to be at cocal If your hunting.

stayed here years ago it was ok
had ads for a foam show that looked fun but didn't see it
no one passing judgement on anything and maybe 10 mins to the cocal iirc

My friend owned it and it closed awhile back not sure of the date but believe it was around a year ago. It was a daiquiri bar mostly catered to local and a surfing crowd. A few blocks from the Cocal just a bar and not a hotel or rooms

thanks to Buzzfla for pointing out my mistake
i was thinking Surf inn in Playa Hermosa which is a totally different location
