Cafe Mundo (near La Amistad) always has a couple of options.

I haven't tried it yet but LuvBurger (san pedro) looks interesting.

"LuvBurger is a new and wonderful plant-based fast casual whole food company. Our mission is to inspire others to eat healthy, natural foods, and respect all sentient beings."

HappyCow is goto app for vegetarian food options.

I was going to be sarcastic and recommend the salad bar at Fogo Brasil for $40.

I do recommend Cafe Rojo for vegetarian or just good healthy food. Oddly enough, Cafe Rojo is in a green building on Av 7 in the same block as Bar Poas. They market themselves as Vietnamese Fusion. You order a "base dish" and then add your "topping". Oddly enough their Bahn Mi bears no resemblance to the real thing and I don't recommend either this or the Casado. The Salad and Bun (Veggies + Vermicelli) are good. The bases are heaps of fresh veggies including arugula, carrot, cucumber, cilantro, and whatever else is fresh. Once you pick a base, you can top it with Pork Meatballs, Caramelized Chicken, Smoked Trout, Shiitake Mushrooms with Sesame, or Eggplant with Basil. There are a variety of sauces at the tables including soy, hoisin, sriracha, and others. They also make refrescos daily. Good coffee and dessert options. I usually eat here at least once a week. No real chica options, unless you are into Europeans with hairy legs and armpits. It ranks high on TripAd, so you get a LOT of tourists.

Also, Tournant Restaurant and Cafe has some good vegetarian options. They are adjacent to the Hotel Taormina and are open for lunch every day but Sunday and in the evenings Wednesday to Saturday. They usually have live acoustic music on Friday and Saturday starting at 8:00. There are three dining areas. Inside dining is in an art gallery with several large tables, a covered balcony area, in good weather there is also garden seating down set of stairs. They run a number of theme events including different cuisine workshops.

Don't be an Ugly American at either of these places, but I have taken conservatively dressed chicas to both and was treated well. I am 60 and the chicas 20 to 25, so the relationship was obvious, but subtle.

BTW, I will be trying LuvBurger this week.

Good info Boynton, I’m not veg but like healthy food. I might add that the place next to Taormina can run out of their posted special early. And +1 on the ugly amercano .
