Being one of the high risk subjects to this virus I am locked down with nothing better to do than write. We are witnessing history. The world will not be the same for any of us in the future. Everyone will take a hit financially. It is a time to sit back and reflect upon what is important in our lives. If family and friends are not at the top of the list you probably have the wrong priorities.

The cost for sex will drop drastically here. There will be a lot of women who become desperate to the point that they will accept almost any offer. That is not a good thing. It means that they along with their families will suffer. Many of the people who would visit here will not be able to because they will not have the discretionary funds available to vacation. Tourism here will take years to recover. The trickle down effect will be felt be everyone in this country. They think that everything will be back to normal here the day after Easter when the travel ban is scheduled to be lifted. That won't happen. This is the high season here. Closing everything now is like closing all stores in the states the last week in November and not opening them back up until February. Many businesses will go under here. A considerable portion of the population will loose their jobs. The jobs may not have been much but they provided enough to survive for hundreds of thousands of people.

Many of you are receiving requests for money. If you can afford it let your conscience guide you. A hundred dollars goes a long way to providing basic food for a week or two here for a family. They have suspended disconnections of utilities here until this is over and nobody is going to be put on the street until after things settle down. Healthcare will be available to them through the public system. In the past RFM may have gone for I-phone purchase but the need is sincere now.

If you can afford to come down when this is over by all means do. The country will desperately need your money. It will take a while for them to adjust to the new economy. Don't expect them to throw out bargains on the first offer. It will come from seeing that there is a lot of competition for everything and little money pursuing it. There are bottom prices that they can't go below such as cost of rooms and food. They can't give it away for less than their cost.

A week ago my neighbor matched with a girl on Tinder. She wanted $150. He said he paid 50,000 colones. She ignored him. She then agreed and stood him up. Yesterday she texted him 4 times offering to come for 40,000. This was one that you would typically find at the Cocal. The Cocal has been closed for over a week, as has the Rey and Sportsman. There is no place any of these girls can go to market their wares other than social media at this time. If they had local customers, many of them are in economic binds, stuck at home with wives or in the expat community afraid to mingle socially.

To everyone, good luck, stay safe and healthy. Hope to see you soon.

POPS; Well said. Having lived here for 35 years, I've seen many changes in Costa Rica. However nothing like I think we are going to see in next few years. Hope for the best expect the worst. Stay safe.

If you are an ex-pat, retired with plenty of money in the bank(not stock market) you could have the chance to experience top quality chicas at bargain basement prices in the near term future. If people get desperate enough there might be a period of lawlessness and increased crime

One of my concerns is a citizen revolt in Costa Rica. The people on the government payroll will experience minimal pain for quite some time if or maybe never while the average citizen who was barely getting by before this happened are desperate. We all know that the government is usually the last to cut payroll and spending.
Now is not the time to flaunt your wealth, support the locals and those in the service sectors.

Political instability is unfortunately a possibility. Even in the US. Count is 32,000 today, Several hundred deaths so far...but if it follows Italy...a lot more to come from that 32,000. And going up by 20% per day. So not a pretty picture anywhere. And unfortunately ammunition is what is getting cleared off the shelves in parts of the US.

Well spoken like the true sage that you are, hermano. It was great to see you again, albeit my last night at the SL. Hopefully, travel and conditions will allow future travel but it may be a while. A vaccine will take time to develop. Stay safe and healthy and practice safe living!

And then there is the $9,999 I have buried underneath the SL fountain  .

I meant to say something sooner but I borrowed 500.00 so there is only $9,499 at the moment. I'll put it back when the sportsbook reopens with something other than Chess and Darts.

How things have changed in just 6 weeks
from a qcostarica article from Feb .1

Costa Rica’s Minister of Health, Daniel Salas, ruled out that Costa Rica will ban the entry of people coming from China, due to the new coronavirus.
“… It is never justified to close airport doors,” Salas said Friday in an interview with La Teja.

The minister recalled that the World Health Organization (WHO) said Thursday that “there are no reasons” to limit travel or trade with China after it declared the coronavirus as an “international emergency.”

“Let’s be more serious, this is not about applying xenophobic measures,” he said. “If all the countries of the world begin to do this (close doors), this is paralyzed,” he added.

now it's not just China, it's everywhere and CR isn't alone.
