I just got a message from one of my favorite Chicas that they closed Del Rey today until further notice. I have a ticket for end of March. I guess I can’t go. Such a bummer !!!!

ALL bars and discos in Costa Rica are being closed. The announcement was made yesterday. I would imagine that the Cocal bar will also be closed. The women might still show up to the pool area for a while but if there are no gringos then they won't be there either.

Also this closure was made after having less than 40 confirmed cases in CR. I have to believe as the number of cases increases as it naturally will in the short-term, other more strict closures will be announced.

I just moved my end of March trip out to early July. Hopefully this will be winding down by then.

I hope everyone stays safe and healthy.

SAN JOSE (Reuters) - The Costa Rican government has ordered the closure of all bars and discos to combat the spread of coronavirus as the tally of registered infections in the Central American country rose to 35, the health ministry said on Sunday.

I still will be heading down on Wednesday, just makes it a little more interesting that's all.

Just got my AM Costa Rica on-line, and from what I read there is a conflict with the Reuters report. Maybe some of the guys that live in SJO can provide some clarity.

here is the Tico Times story
https://ticotimes.net/2020/03/15/costa- ... d-to-close

from qcostarica
https://qcostarica.com/ministry-of-heal ... osta-rica/

The Ministry of Health ordered, today Sunday, the closure of all bars, clubs, and casinos in Costa Rica, until further notice.
The Government announced, at a press conference, that the police will have the authority to verify that the Health provision is followed. If officers detect open bars, they will close them.

Other meeting places, such as restaurants and cinemas, that do not comply with the order to operate at 50% of their visiting capacity will also be closed.

This last provision also applies to sodas (small eateries) and food courts in commercial centers and malls.

In the case of restaurant bars, they will be allowed to stay open if they limited capacity to 50% stated in their Health permit.

I heard from a chica that the Cocal is closed, at least for the working girls. The hotel may still be open. Taormina's bar is closed but the hotel is open.

Casa Boynton is still providing chicas with micro-grants and tuition assistance.

Boynton, you are a true humanitarian. I just hope you are following government precautions and wearing a full body hazmat suit with a handy opening for latex covered genitalia.

Hope you see this in time (or your airline had better catch) but unless you are a Costa Rican or foreign resident they will not let you in. Received a text from this web-site as well as confirmed on amcostarica.com.
