I tend to agree, people are not doing their duty and dying to make this “pandemic” worthwhile. If we would just shoot the infected, we could end this bitch real quick and get back to living. And those bleeding hearts who don’t want to shoot the infected, let’s quarantine them in China where it came from. Give them their COVID-19 back. |

Whitecat wrote: 26% unemployment. 26% of Ticos unwilling to work seems low to me. It seems to me that 26% of the hard-working Ticos support the remaining population. A lot of the ladies I meet say they support non-working boyfriends and/or husbands. A few of them invited me to their homes (because they wanted me to buy the food for the party) and I counted 12 non-working humans to every working human. Also, poor-mouthing is more popular than futbol in CR. I was on a tour years ago and the tour guide kept telling everybody his monthly salary was $120. “Propina please?” |

Here's an excellent well sourced article from the Colombian paper El Tiempo. Of course you can right click anywhere for the translate option. What it shows us is that there are more options besides "hiding in the house" or throwing caution to the wind, which has been a popular false choice. No we can't go back to January this year, but we can resume some normalcy while taking certain precautions. https://www.eltiempo.com/salud/que-debe ... mia-540832 PS Anyone interested in Colombia, or Latin America generally I recommend that you allow this paper to send you notifications or keep up with it. They frequently have interesting articles. |

Minimize minimize minimize.... https://www.cnn.com/videos/politics/202 ... px-sot.cnn About 6% have no co-morbids according to the CDC. That's still a significant number. As to underlying conditions, many are common among those that live long lives, obesity, daibetes, asthma, high blood pressure, etc. Plus non-pre-existing Covid related ailments like pneumonia are also listed as co-morbids. Just man up, wear a mask and social distance. Economies will exist under these circumstances for a while. Also listen to some news networks besides Fox which is heavily biased, and guys like Hannity and Carlson aren't even journalists but are shock jocks/ideologues. CNN is biased the other way, but a truer picture becomes more clear when accessing a number of sources across the spectrum. |

CNN & the likes have EVERYTHING under control (feeble minds & sheep) they report only the Truth & Facts only peaceful protest in LA, Seattle & Portland and many other cities throughout the US. Every White person is a Racist & you should invite the Peace Loving B urn L oot M urder into your home as they are tired & hungry from all the peaceful protests & charitable work they do. Actually you should sign over your home and belongings to them as reparations for the evil you have done to them. Actually they can just break into your home and r-pe your family and take what they want as they did in Chicago. Again thankfully CNN only reports the truth and by the way FOX has been deceiving you as they believe in GOD and CNN has reported there is NO GOD. So to U Liberals that want to TURN this country into a Socialist State go FYS&YSUMFAH !!!! |

I just got an e-mail from Sportsmen's Lodge that they are re-opening in a couple of weeks. Does this mean that bars and restaurants are going to be open? From what I read in this thread I thought things were still shut down. Since I am a little confused by all of this I would appreciate it if someone would clarify what will or won't be open if I head down in November. Thanks in advance. |

Protests going on now are different than the usual anti-uber stand around and pout. Last week a car was torched in Quepos, last night 15 police were beaten east of San Jose and police fired tear gas into protesters were in Puntarenas. Normally docile Ticos are a but more restive. No violence yet reported against tourists in San Jose. https://ticotimes.net/2020/10/01/costa- ... t-imf-deal https://qcostarica.com/a-day-of-national-protest/ https://qcostarica.com/15-police-beaten ... n-caldera/ https://www.crhoy.com/nacionales/manife ... dirigente/ IMO - come down, stick to San Jose, patronize known venues (SL when open, Monica's, etc.), use a guide/driver that knows the current situation. |

The protests are against new taxes and rules imposed by the not too popular president. |
