Well if you get up to Toronto, the Candian dollar is still about 0.70 USD so your money will go further

There's a couple of good full-service spas near the airport, most of them them are almost back to normal, though you need to have a mask to go into resturants/shops in most of Ontario for the last 2-3 months now.

you have to quarantine for 2 weeks on arrival. They are very strict about that...and no visitors or trips outside your room... it may be monitored and fines can be very high. So no visits to local spas.

So...if you come from the US, and want to go to CR via Canada - include the 2 week quarantine in your plans.

Unfortunatly, it's not being really enforced in Ontario - the Ontario Premier (like a Governor) isn't happy with the Federal government at with the lack of enforcement.

Quote:
Ontario Premier Doug Ford says the quarantine system is "broken" because federal health officers are not charging people ignoring self-isolation orders for COVID-19.

Since the end of March, an emergency order under the federal Quarantine Act has required most people arriving from outside Canada to isolate themselves for 14 days, even if they don't have symptoms.

The vast majority of people follow the law and do isolate. And among those that don't some get caught, are charged, and of those some are fined. The news media, or course, is highlighting cases where people are breaking the law - it's interesting news, as it infuriates the people that follow the health guidelines, and/or rules.

My take on all of that is that it is best that anyone follow the rules as people are fed up with rule breakers.

I can officially enter Costa Rica as early as September 15 (just 4 days from now) under the latest additions to the list of permitted states. And I would love to. But as I feared and wrote of some weeks ago, the virus in Costa Rica is clearly worse than here at home now. (Today CR set another record for new cases and the trend is on a definite climb.) I wonder to myself if the quarantine would flip to the opposite direction and I would be required to quarantine here after going to CR? From what I hear from others in San Jose, it's probably not worth going yet anyway. Even though I would love to return the Costa Rica that I know from pre-covid days, I think CR is going to have to go through its ride up and back down the infection curve before many will return (including myself). Comparing to the timing of the infection curves in other locations that have already been through the first wave, Costa Rica will probably be coming down from the peak of the first wave at about the time that a vaccine is expected to be available there.

This is worth a read, draw your own conclusions
https://qcostarica.com/covid-19-costa-r ... ed-deaths/

1. Refrigerated corpse storage to be installed at 4 more hospitals (with increased capacity).
2. The Caja is ordering more body bags.
3. Death rate among those hospitalized is 20%.

---------
My OPINIONs
1. The country is going to continue to open up and the local economy will collapse.
2. The young and healthy are at far less risk, but this hobby has always involved risk.
3. Things are worse in the GAM than at the coast.
4. There are deals to be had.
5. None of us is getting any younger.
6. Still rather be here than the US, or Colombia.

Just read on Q Costarica that the CDC in the US has issued a travel warning that recommends
not traveling to Costa rica beacuse of the increased number of daily infections.
That's got to make a lot if people happy !!!!

I think they went to level 3, which is the highest. Record number of cases reported almost daily.

I have to agree 100% with all said here, especially #4 and #5.

If you read further down, all but 10 countries in the world are in Level 3 "essential travel only". Costa Rica isn't being singled out as any worse than any other.

I live here in Costa Rica, have family here, and know a lot of people here. I come in contact with many people here. I constantly ask them, "Do you know anyone who has had the virus? Do you know anyone who has died from the virus?" I have yet to have anyone tell me they know anyone who has had it or died. My wife's family, 9 brothers and sisters live in a poverty area in Heredia. They know of no one who has been confirmed to have had it or died. I just asked my Dentist and her assistant today and they know of nobody who has had it or died. What this means is this. People die all the time. Old people die of something. From their own statistics 2/3rds of the deaths were of people older than 65. Many of them older than 80. The majority of deaths were to people who had co-morbidity risks. I am 71, I have several risk factors. Many of my contemporaries have died already from various ailments. I don't expect to live forever. It is easy to blame the virus for deaths that would have occurred anyway from the existing conditions. Like my doctor said when he told me I had prostate cancer. If you live long enough you will die with prostate cancer, not from it. The virus is taking its natural course through the population. Most people get it and have little to no symptoms (estimated 80%). It is not a guarantee that you will get it if exposed. You have natural disease fighters called T cells. Only one out of around 5 get it if closely exposed to the virus. Only 2 out of 10 have need for medical treatment. Less than 1 out of a hundred who gets the virus dies. If you come here you are far less likely to be exposed to the virus than the average person here who rides the bus. Buses have functioned here since the first case was discovered with standing room only at times, no sanitation precautions and no masks until the past month. 50 people on a bus at rush hour is easy to observe. Yet the idiots making decisions here have kept the beaches closed until recently, the national parks closed until recently and cast blame on the Nicaraguans for illegally sneaking in and bringing the virus and for people gathering in groups. They are just covering their ass so they can say we told you what would save you and you didn't listen. Bullshit. Politicians have not missed a paycheck and down the road it will be discovered that they made fortunes at the expense of the poor here. The economy was not good before this. It is a wreck now. Thousands of business have failed. Hundreds of thousands of people out of work and many have no jobs to return to. Hundreds of thousands of people who have work are making a fraction of what they were making. The return of tourism will be slow. If you do make it here there will be plenty of women available. I am getting calls from women I haven't seen in years. The party scene here has yet to crank back up. Bars have curfews and crowd limits. No casinos are allowed open. The mps are pretty much operating as normal. The strip clubs are not allowed to open. I expect things to open up within the next two months. Don't be surprised if it is mid November.

Canada and Costa Rica are two I am looking at for travel before years end. Would love to get back to the spas in Toronto, I had a great though short trip last year - 6 sessions in 4 days. Seduction, Allure, Pure (2X), Perla, and Airport Golden. Montreal great too. But I'm waiting for the 14-day quarantine to be removed.

So Costa Rica is looking like a likely option for October. Good post Pops. I will be glad to come down and provide some tourism dollars.
