Hi,

I damaged my left shoulder over a month ago. GP said its not a tear but still giving me trouble. Any recommendation for a cheap mri place? Any idea of cost? Thought its easier to get it done while on holidays, difficult once back home and work routine..

Hospital CIMA if you want quality and a somewhat reasonable price. You could call ahead and get a quote. Not sure if there are any clinics with that type of equipment where you can just walk in. I needed an ultra sound and that determined I needed a biopsy done and they had me wait about an hour and a half for the first ultrasound then my doctor looked at it and told me to go back down and get the biopsy. That was done next day. My total cost for 4 blood draws, two ultrasounds, one when doing the biopsy, 5 doctors visits in the building next door and all the lab work was just under 900.00 US. I was very happy with the service and quality of care they provided, the speed of the labs was incredible compared to what you get in the states.

That's amazing! I had exact, same problem [left shoulder] after trip & fall and VA Hospital (Las Vegas) resisted doing necessary tests [said: "at your age, it's arthritis"] for over 2 years. VA whined about expense of doing MRI. After delay of 2+ years and MRI, diagnosed damage & deterioration and prescribed useless physical therapy--too little, too late. Still in pain every day!

Look into RMA in Sabana. Had one done there. Price varies. MUCH cheaper than the states. Recommended by a doctor at Biblica. They have a Facebook page.

Any US Citizen 65 and older can get either Medicare or both Medicare/Medicaid if they are low income, with that you can switch to a Medicare Advantage plan which cover things like like MRI's and Colonoscopies. Some Plans have International coverage with limits. My Advantage Plan has no monthly premium, $0 Co- Pays for a Primary visit, $5 Co pays for Specialist visits. Dental, Hearing and Vision benefits. I am getting a colonocopy this week for no cost. A zillion other benefits as well.
