Why Costa Rica? Why now? Costa Rica can be a life changing adventure. It was for me. Not only is it a beautiful country to visit with plenty to see and do, it is a complete change in culture. For a single male traveler it is like going to Disneyland. There are unlimited opportunities to meet beautiful, exciting young women with attitudes completely different from what you are experiencing in the States. You can actually talk to and flirt with women here without fear of offending them. Prostitution here is not illegal. It is not encouraged by the society but it exists and is accepted. It is not a sordid, dirty, illegal experience like it is in the states. To me it is like receiving a service such as a therapeutic massage or having my teeth cleaned. It is no big deal. The women involved usually present better motives than you find in the states. Usually what you find here are women working to provide for their Ch*ldren rather than working to support drug habits. It is easy to find women that merit respect for the sacrifice they make to provide for their families. You thus have opportunities to make friends with benefits relationships. It does not matter if you are socially awkward. The women here want to meet you. It translates to your return home. You will experience a new found confidence when interacting with American women if you so choose. You will know that all you have to do to be with fantastic looking women with great attitudes is to board a plane. I choose not to waste my time there dealing with spoiled entitled American women. Sex does not need to be a reward given to you only if you jump through enough hoops. It should be a mutually pleasurable experience.
From locations like Texas and Florida it is possible to get round trip flights into San Jose for $400 and less. It takes a little over three hours to get here. A considerable portion of the population here speaks some English and the dollar is readily accepted. There are literally thousands of women here available for play for pay. There are unlimited women available for conventional relationships. Whatever works for you. Costa Rica is unique in that it is easy to find like minded travelers who accept you for who you are. Thus this forum gives you opportunities to learn what is available and to hook up with fellow adventurers. The sooner you make the decision to come down the sooner your life will change.

Agreed! :!: :!: :!:

Plus it costs less to live here. I have a 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment on the 6th floor with killer views in Barrio Amon, huge, fully furnished, elec, cable, cable internet, water, washer/dryer, hot water heater, etc. for $650 a month! :!: :!: The equivalent in S. Florida would be easy $1500 and that would be on the low end, more likely closer to $2k with the high a/c expense.

I just had a colonoscopy and "gastroscopia" at CIMA, a top hospital that can compete with any in the USA with a top Doc in the field, $550!!! Expect $3,000 to $4,000 for that in the USA. Another time I had to go to the emergency room years ago for dehydration. Total cost there, $300, and my Tico friends insisted I got ripped off...if I went to the public hospital instead of CIMA they said it would've been $100.

I have two stunning gorgeous favoritas who visit me without a timer in their hands and deliver mind boggling magnificent gfe for $80 and are sweet, intelligent and don't steal...IF you could get that in the USA, and that's a big "IF", expect to pay $300 or more.

Also in my twilight years, it's exciting to be learning a new language, experiencing a new culture, learning to navigate a totally different system than what I'm used to. Oddly, most of my friends in the USA are still married and I have more single friends here!

Yea, yea, yea, I hear the naysayers wail that things aren't what they used to be and various things, mostly imports are more expensive than the good old days but if you know how to shop and do your own cooking and avoid expensive gringo trap restaurants, you can live on a lot less.

I can easily afford to be here on my social security and savings, but luckily I can still work via internet so I put in 15 to 20 hours a week, I couldn't do that in the USA and live comfortably and certainly not get weekly poon tang!

Some things here are more difficult than the luxuries we take for granted in the USA, but sometimes finding out how to get around the aggravation is fun, challenging and rewarding.

I always meet guys and strike up conversations with total strangers, I know millionaires and I know guys living off $1500 a month social security. Pretty much everyone seems friendly and it's interesting to meet fellow non judgemental mongers from all over the country and make new friends. Back in the USA we mostly stick with our family and friends we've known since David slew Goliath and seldom want to make new friends.

It's not perfect here and many times just routine things in the USA are a headache here and we all know "manana" means "not now", but these minor aggravations are endurable when you think of the positives.

I've been coming here since 2003 and lived here two years, 2007-2009, and decided long ago I wanted to retire here and I just did this January. I'm from S Florida so getting "home" to visit relatives and do whatever is a 3 hour flight away.

Sometimes when I go home I look at my suits, dress pants, dress shirts and ties I just can't seem to give up that I left with a friend and I miss wearing them and working and hustling, but normally no more than 5 minutes...that's a part of my past now.

I hear some crybabies can't take it and go running home, not me, I've applied for residency, this is my home now until I find myself tap dancing, sweating and making excuses to St. Peter...

While touring the town today stopped in the Del Rey for a beer. At two in the afternoon there wasn't many women at the Rey, maybe 20 total. At least 7 or 8 were quite attractive in the 7 to 9 class. It would have been no problem to find fun company. It also would not have been hard to negotiate $80 with only a handful of guys in sight. May not be as good as it was ten years ago but it is still great.

As I sit here in Silicon Valley at my job that isn’t much fun it’s posts like these that make me smile thinking about my next trip. My first trip was 12 years ago. I’ve been going every 8 months or so since. I usually spend 2 weeks at a time. Have there been changes to the scene? Of course there has. Is it still a lot of fun and an escape from reality? You bet it is. So to pops and Netgems as a guy who still needs to work and reside in the US. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the on the ground reports and updates...Thank you!!

I work in a major Las Vegas strip casino where many super-hot young women are walking around & playing games of chance every day. From these young hotties I know the best thing I can get from them is a smile after making eye contact. They are with their husbands or boyfriends, if they're single, they are certainly not interested in me, someone 40 years older than them, if they're a pro I know the price would be many c-notes for a lousy time. But in San Jose especially at the DR or SL, but also in other spots, when you get that smile it's all different than back home. That smile is an invitation & by acting on it, you can have that hottie back in your hotel room as soon as you want. Someday I may live the life of Pops & Netgems, but for now, I visit over & over again, bringing back an endless array of hot young women to my hotel room. Pura Vida!

Not only do I love Costa Rica for a change of pace and a getaway but I love the attitude toward hooking down there. I used to go to "agencies" in Houston and they sneak you in and out and heaven forbid if you see another monger or he sees you. After visiting Costa Rica where you can walk into a whorehouse without feeling pressured or rushed and visit with the girls and BS with the other mongers, I have no desire for the U.S. style. I really don't even understand this "discretion" BS they preach here in the U.S. If a guy sees me at a whorehouse, he is there for the same reason. Where is the shame????SMDH

I've been in HDR and SL when there were only a couple girls, like around noon and even morning at HDR. often there's at least a couple I thought were hot and they are more apt to go for $60 when it's dead. Still beats the USA...I only need one...or occasionally two...lol

By the way, I finally met Pops yesterday, thanks for the good advice, brother, look forward to becoming friends and seeya around town! :!: :!: :!:

This thread could easily ask "Why stay in the US?" "Leave Now!" Any Single/Divorced Male of Retirement age (or has the means to Retire) who enjoys this hobby and stays in the US is a fool. Pick a country any country. I came to Thailand to Retire. Other guys go to the Philippines, Costa Rica, the DR, Mexico, Spain, Portugal, etc. Whatever country you pick it will be way cheaper than the US - cost of living and for the women. All it takes is some balls to make it happen. Stop making excuses - pull the trigger and just do it. All the guys here say the same thing - wish I would have Retired earlier. Remember this saying - "FEAR IS TEMPORARY BUT REGRET IS FOREVER!!!

When you think about it, a country that has to out source sex by bringing in Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese and Koreans because the gringas will not put out, is pretty sad. :( :?
