My 11th trip in 3 days and it will be my first to not run into Alberto. I managed to see and chat with him on every trip I have made to CR as the SL is, was and always will be the site of so many great, pleasant conversations. ¡Que Dios te bendiga, don Alberto, con muchas latinas muy ricas!

Very sad to hear this news. Alberto was one of my first friends in San Jose, and a legendary character. We shared a birthday June 7th, and for the last several years celebrated together at SL usually with a big party in the Penthouse the night before Bills birthday party.

In addition to his many other talents, he was a great cook and his culinary contributions to the party were always as good as the stories, and advice he freely shared.

To Alberto, fair winds and following seas my friend, you will be missed.

Al was a good guy.
Fond memories of his antics and many conversations over a beverage.
He lived the way a man should live in his golden years. Happy and Free
May he rest in peace.

It's sad to hear about Alberto's passing. I made it a point to call him if I was going to make a run into San Jose. Always had a good story to tell. RIP amigo.

Wish I could be there-I'd def have a glass of white wine & some ceviche to eat. Alberto was def a legendary character of the gulch & any night you were at the SL, you could count on him & his Panama hat coming in & making the rounds. He certainly enjoyed his life & that's all anyone of us can ask for.

Incredibly sad news. I met Alberto many years ago in the SL and he always had great travel advise on just about any international location you could imagine. I had a drink with him just about a month ago and he was explaining a new idea he was formulating to provide a day trip experience for San Jose visitors.

Alberto was definitely a unique individual and will truly be missed.

RIP

How strange. I seldom come on here but last night I had a dream that Alberto was here in our village bar among all the French regulars and I walked in and they were playing some sort of card game and he warned me off of getting in the game. It was so strange to have a dream like that and I came on CRT today to see what was up and got the news. I first met Alberto years ago when my wife was in a long term vegetative state in a nursing home and I made a trip down to CR. I mentioned to him my situation and that when I got home I also had to have (and pay for) a endoscopic examination that was about 3k. He told me about the cost in CR at the main clinic downtown and it was about $400 but they would not do the test unless there was someone there to take me home afterwards. Alberto sat there in the hospital waiting for me for a couple hours and afterwards we had lunch and then, although I was pretty washed out, went out that evening and he fixed me up with a knock out Columbian. Years later after my wife passed away I met a fun gal (that I now have the good fortune to be married to) and she came down with me to CR for some dental work and some fun and we spent New Years Eve with Alberto at the Del Rey and Key Largo. Have a great picture of that evening with Al being Al and will post it if I can figure out how.

Al will be missed by many of us and SJ will never be quite the same.

RIP Alberto,
Taz, what is the meaning of a true friend ? I doubt many of us will meet one.
I flew down with him out of Dallas one trip and a true gentleman there could
not exist. So many snapshots in the brain of good fellas I cannot remember
of people I met in CR.
Regards, 911 Driver

I've known Alberto for close to 13 years. We always had many a technical discussion about trends in the chip manufacturing industry and where the technology was going. And then we got down to the more serious discussion of chicas.
He always brought a smile to my face every time I saw him.

Those of us that knew him know he had a big heart and was always trying to help everyone out.

SL won't be the same with out that hat and wine glass. I'll miss him.

Wow, I'm saddened to hear the news, just like all of us he was at the bar at night and was a fountain of knowledge - some good, some not, but always entertaining! He will be missed! RIP Alberto and I will toast you for our friendship!

Good ole Al,
I met him on my first trip to CR in 2005 which was also a solo trip. Anyway there he was, sitting at the SL bar in his baseball cap drinking a vodka cranberry, that was his drink of choice back then, i know because i paid for a bunch of them . Al took me under his wing and showed me the ropes for my entire 5 day trip. We had alot of laughs.

Man i wish i could have made one of his Thailand trips he always invited me on...just never was to be.

I'll miss you my friend, RIP you drunken slut

His words not mine
