Wow.
Sad news.
I just said hello to him last month.
Who knew that would be the last time?

We will be honored to do this and more in remembering our great friend Alberto....

I have been coming down to San Jose a couple of times each year since 2004 and often saw Alberto at the bar in the Lodge but we never really had a conversation. Then on my last trip this May we happened to find ourselves sitting next to each other on my last night.

We struck up a conversation and found out that not only did we both used to be engineers in the semiconductor industry, but we actually worked for the same company at the same time back in the late 80's out in Santa Clara. It was a large company and we hadn't met personally, but he started naming names and telling stories and I would laugh and say "Yeah, I heard about that" and then I started naming names and telling stories. It was a lot of fun to laugh about the memories.

We only had a chance to talk for what felt like a short time before I had to go, but our last words were "I'll see you next time". I will miss not seeing him.

Very sad news indeed! I knew Alberto for the many years I have been coming to Costa Rica and the Lodge. With every trip I found him a fountain of new information and a pleasure to be around. He will be missed by many of his long time friends. God bless.

Spent a month as his neighbor a year or so ago... and spent many an hour in his company in the SL and elsewhere. He will be missed.

Anybody that never saw him has never been to SL. He wore a path out in the concrete from the bottom of the hill where he lived. Was there ever a day that he did not make that walk? He was a constant in the ever changing gulch. I can only imagine what he saw and heard during his years in CR. I doubt he ever missed a single party at the SL. God bless him and may he R.I.P.

RIP, we officially met in MDE, even though we had seen each others dozens of times in SJO.

Alberto will be sorely missed, one of the good guys indeed. No matter the subject, he could carry on a conversation in a convincing manner.

Dang, I really hate to hear this news. The gulch has lost an icon. RIP Alberto.
