I don't know the rules of Rummy. Everytime I go in, I watch a few hands but have yet to figure out the game. Can anyone clarify the rules for me? I'm a poker man, but I'm curious anyways. Just in case I need to kill the time. The dealers aren't really friendly enough to explain rules like in Vegas, and the rules don't seem to be posted on the internet.

The most popular Casino is 21 also called “Rummy”, which is similar to blackjack but with tico rules.

You get two cards, you can then ask for another card or stay with the two you have if you have 21 or close to 21. As in blackjack, the idea is to get as close to 21 as possible without going over, with face cards counting as 10 and aces counting as one or 11. All the rules just mentioned are just like blackjack. Here is where the game differs from the Las Vegas version:

If your first three cards are the same, three of a kind, or a straight (6, 7, & 8 of the same suit), you have a ‘rummy’ and you are paid double. And if your three of a kind happen to be three sevens (which is 21), you get an even higher bonus. If you get 21 with two cards or get five cards without breaking 21, there’s no double bonus as you get in many other international casinos. Splitting pairs is allowed as is doubling down.

Just a bit of an addendum and clarification on El Silencioso's post...

The payout on a blackjack is traditionally 3 to 2. In Rummy it is even money.

If you have a blackjack and the dealer draws a multi card 21 it is a push.

Also this is a no hole card game, so if you are dealt a blackjack you must wait until the hand is played out completely before getting paid, so you won't be given an option for even money with a face or ace showing.

They also limit the amount of times you can split aces.

And unlike in Vegas, the chica next to you will likely massage your C*ck under the table, further confusing your play.

All this means a greater percentage to the house of like, I'm guessing, close to 65 %.

I normally like to play low stakes, drink free and BS at the tables....but now if they take away the drinks........no se

if you play ...sit at the table ,buy your chips and wait for the table to go through at least to shoes before playing and watch the table play....what you will see is a different game ..mostly the dealer not taking his second card until everyone is done hitting...you will see the dealer hits alot of 21's in this game and alot of americans play the game like its bj ...and you willneed to play it different ...can you win...sure !! but be ready you some bullshit that will happen like you have never seen before (as i said the dealer seems to make 21 alot) and you see americans walking away shaking their heads...i always sit at 3rd base so i can at least try to make the best decision for the table(vs someone else doing it ) play with colonades and 5000 to 10000 should be your max....

Since you get paid doubles on three of a kind, you would probably have people standing on 4 4 4 and 5 5 5 hoping to get paid double i would imagine. Or can you you still take the fourth card and get paid double if you win.

Once you have ANY three of a kind (on first three cards) or three in a row (6-7-8) of the same suit,the hand is over for you and you are paid three to one. There is actually some misinformation posted in this thread. I suggest you do a search for a post that I wrote some time ago explaining rummy and its differences to blackjack.

Yes, there are some variations in the payouts but overall it's not that much different.

You will see Ticos hit 5-5 hoping for another 5 instead of doubling down (the better bet). They will also do things like hitting suited connectors in hopes of drawing the 3rd to complete their "possible" 3-card straight flush when basic strategy tells you to stand. Be prepared to deal with their rancor over your play if you don't follow their "rules".

The main difference between how you play Rummy as opposed to blackjack has more to do with when to surrender than with how you play your cards. Since you're still playing with multiple 52-card decks (as opposed to Spanish 21 where the 10s are removed) basic strategy can still be employed.

What pays 5-1?

I was playing Rummy once (my 1st or 2nd trip) and I bet $20 and was paid $100. I don't remember what I had but it was at this point I realized that I wasn't playing blackjack.

3-7s pays either 4-1 or 5-1 depending which casino you are playing in. Also any rummy the exceeds the total of 21 pays 4-1 instead of 3-1. (For example.... 8-8-8 pays 4-1

In CR they are using the name "Rummy" for some variation on the US game of "Blackjack" or 21.
Not the Indian game at all.

Playing Online Rummy Card Game is not at all that difficult as it seems, if you know the exact move one after another. All you need to remember those steps:
1. Sort your cards in to possible meld (this lessen your points)
Note: Possible Meld as in Pure Sequence (Same set, consecutive ranks), Triplets (same rank, different sets), Impure sequence (Triplets or Pure sequence with a Joker card)
2. After sorting all u have to do is select the cards from either the closed deck or discarded deck, and simultaneously discard one of your cards. (this is for balancing the amount of 13 cards)
3. Place your show

Great 1st Post for the link--your explanation is a bit cryptic and while Poka Bunga has the rules, you have to register to access. Still, Bro Isra123 and your Posts show the diff between CR Rummy and the sub-continent variety. Good to know.
