Is the Del Rey closed again ?

You don't believe Boynton? Or Tico Times?

You might not want to believe either of them, sometimes they are both full of shit.

I first ran across the Tico Times article while reading my morning news. It is an odd article with few relevant details. It talks about the history of "The Brothers" investment scandal and the old gringo-gulch environment. Both these are old news and unrelated to the post-pandemic Del Rey.

Next I found the Diario Extra article. It cited a tax official's assertion that the HDR was closed for payment issues with the VAT (IVA) tax. It further states that the government has taken some 50+ similar actions against other entities with more to come. It goes on to state that this is related to then wrapping up of pandemic-related leniency on tax collection. This leads me to speculate that things might be resolved, but Semana Santa might delay the process.

HDR's online booking shows no available rooms this weekend, but open availability beginning Monday. I watched the local noon and evening TV news and didn't see anything more about it.

A friend walked by the HDR tonight and found a sign on one entrance saying the were closed but would reopen Monday. The other entrance was sealed with yellow Tax Police tape.

Another day in Pair-o-dice.

I vote Boynton’s accuracy over the tico news media.

The re-opened Del Rey lasted less than a year. I doubt the LuxHigh will fare better.

It looks like a family hotel. It doesn’t look like the Del Rey vibe.

Interesting. I didn’t get any warning using Safari on an iPad. Thanks for the warning. I didn’t realize it was a malicious link. I just Googled it in Safari.

You won't see the warning if Israeli Pegasus software is also installed on the device. The only way to tell is that at one Friday your doorbell will just before dawn.
