Congratulations! As a former smoker myself, albeit a lite smoker, 4-5 cigs per day, I can relate to how difficult a habit it is to stop. Probably the most difficult endeavor I have ever undertaken. Five years later, and many patches on my arm, I still have occasional cravings. It's tough to avoid all of the people and places, and stressors that might tempt one to begin again, but quitting is a fight that is most certainly worth the effort, and will add days if not years to your mongering life.

Definitely this is among the best news I've heard all year.

Way to go Steve!

Hang in there man, the desire to smoke lasts for at least 6 months. Don't smoke even just 1... we're pulling for you Steve!

Thanks to all for the words of encourgement. I agree - the cravings come and go. This past week, I went through a particular tough time but managed to come out the other end ok. Thanks Easy, VB and ID for your support and help. Looks like I'm gonna make it (with a little help from my friends).
LVS :)

As a former counselor for The American Heart Assoc's smoking cessation clinics I know how hard a habit it can be to break. The cravings do come and go, but they usually come less frequently in time. You may even have dreams you started smoking - just your subconscience reminding you that you don't want to start again. I have those dreams to this day, after having been smoke free for nearly 30 years.

But you can do it. Each day you will feel better. Better physically, and mentally as well. Te deseo mucho suerte.

LV Steve,

Congrats on your decision to stop smoking. Smoking not only contributes to increased risk for lung cancer but also for for putting smokers at a much greater increase for Cardiovascular disease as well . FYI it is also a primary risk factor for Erectile Dysfunction .

As a proud employee of Pfizer for the last 16 years I just want to let my CRT brothers know about the availibility and recent FDA approval of CHANTIX, an oral medication which has been shown to quadruple the likelihood of iving up a very dangerous habit.

A quick search of CHANTIX on any internet search engine will provide
lots of useful info.

I applaude all who make this decision for a healthier lifestyle.

LV Steve,

Ah... smooth taste and plenty o' carcinogens. Ain't smoking great!?

Seriously, good decision my friend! Here's an unexpected side-effect: With more oxygen in your system and the absence of nicotine (which restricts blood flow in your capillaries), your pecker will work better. :D Your chica will be impressed.

Seriously, I think you could get 90% of the male smokers in the world to give up the butts, if you could convince them of this fact: Non-smokers get longer, stronger boners. :D

Good for you! And BTW, you'll smell better too.

Amazing  Everyone is so quick to jump on the band wagon and fall all over themselves congratulating LVSteve for giving up cigarettes.

Did you ever think about the downside  :?: I know for a fact (no word on the street here  ) that the pulperia where Steve use to resupply his nicotine supply is seemingly have serious economic problems and soon may be forced to close it doors. Just one of the many small tragedies that might befall the local economy. :x .

Seriously Steve congratulations on taking that very important step to prolonging your life. You live in Paradise enjoying the Pura Vida experience no reason to bring it to a premature conclusion. :D

Steve,

Good Luck with your quest to stop smoking. I hope you will succeed in this endeavor. BTW, I did enjoyed our dinner Saturday night at the Italian restaurant at Plaza Itskazu. It was great to reminesce about the good old days of CRT with you and EASY. It is good that you have Easy living near you in the same apartment complex. Since he's not doing anything anyway, except lounging around in his apartment, he can help encourage you to stop smoking. I still think he should get a stun-gun and as soon as you have a strong craving for a smoke, he can come over and zap you with it.
